Varsity

Boys:  Pope 0 - Alexander 1

The Varsity boys took on Alexander at home last Monday night.  In a very close and physical game, the Greyhounds came up short, as Alexander scored a late goal to take the win.  Pope pressed hard and had several chances to tie the game, but Alexander's keeper made several excellent stops.

Girls: Pope 1 - Alexander 0

The Varsity girls played Alexander at home on Tuesday night.  Alexander had a break away early in the game, but a hard charging Sarah Rose forced the Striker to shoot wide of the net.  After that, it is all Pope.  Pope's midfield controlled the game, but they were unable to penetrate the camped out defense of Alexander, until midway through the second half, when Andrea Richard scored off a corner kick.  Alexander tried to mount a last minute attack, but the shutout happy Pope defense was not going to let that happen.  Sarah Rose and Sam Piper combined again for the shutout in goal.

Junior Varisty

Boys: Pope 2 - Alexander 0

The Junior Varsity boys opened the season against Alexander Monday night, and did it with a convincing win over a much bigger Alexander squad.  Juan Leon scored the first goal early in the first half, and  Bryan Daniel scored the second goal to close out the half 2-0.  The second half saw Alexander respond to what must have been an inspiring half time speech, as they pressed hard to score.  The second half had the announcer calling defender Hunter Cutcliff's name as the defensed funneled the offense towards Hunter for the kill .  Alex Kokan and Brewer Kunnemann combined for the shutout.

Girls: Pope 2 - Alexander 0

The Junior Varsity girls open their season against Alexander on Tuesday night.  Sarah Schamay scored both goals, one is each half, to seal their first victory.   Pope rarely saw the ball on their half of the field, as the defense stepped up on every through ball.  Iara Moran and Blair Shortland combined for the shutout.
